Acids and Alkalines - A pH Moment

Picture
Human nutrition is often measured and regulated by acids and alkalis. Acid foods usually have a sour after-taste. They cause deterioration or are corrosive by nature. Alkaline foods are non-acid and make an acid solution weak. They usually taste bitter and feel slippery in the mouth. The acid/alkaline balance of the body is usually measured by pH. The pH scale measures from 0-14; from 1-7 to is acid, 7 is neutral, and 7-14 is alkaline.

Everything has its own pH, such as the vagina, stomach, skin, head, feet, and mouth. Anger is acid, happiness is alkaline, tears of sadness are acid, tears of happiness are alkaline, stress is acid but relaxation is alkaline, exercise is acid and rest is alkaline, etc. The pH is also a measure of the speed of digestion or biochemical activity. An acid pH means fast activity while an alkaline pH means slow chemical activity.

Foods are oxidized (burned) in the body. Digested (burned) foods leave a waste matter called ash. The ash can be neutral (7.0), acid (1 to 6.9), or alkaline (7 to 14). The objective of nutrition is to keep the acids and alkalis in balance (proper ratio) and to avoid acid ash.

The normal ratio for acid/alkaline varies with the type of diet. The junk food, animal flesh eater’s diet, is the highest acid diet. It is the most corrosive and destructive diet and creates numerous diseases.

A diet that consists of animal flesh and cooked vegetables is the second highest acidic diet. The vegetarian that includes raw and cooked foods has the lowest acid levels. The healthiest alkaline-acid ratio is a diet with a 4:1 or 80% alkaline and 20% acid. This ratio gives optimum health and the highest protection against disease.

Acid foods have a high content of phosphorus, sulfur and chlorine. All animal flesh, poultry, seafood, chicken fetuses (eggs), most nuts, legumes, alcohol, nicotine and all synthetic foods are acid.

Alkaline foods have a high content of magnesium, sodium, calcium, and potasium.  Most fresh fruits and vegetables are alkaline.  Without large amounts of alkaline mineral elements in the diet, the body becomes diseased.  The body robs the tissue and bones for the alkaline elements to balance a high acid diet.  This causes a nutritional debt (deficit).  The nutritional debt is paid by the organs, nerves, bones and connecting tissues.  The drain of minerals (alkaline) nutrients from the lungs, reproductive organs, jaw teeth, then the bones results in dis-ease (colds, flu, reproductive problems, jaw deterioration, rotten teeth, etc.).

An obvious mineral drain, malnutrition and disease state is the end result of this diet.  In balancing the diet, keep the acid (20%) and alkaline (80%) ratio as a standard.
